The Ann Letitia Russell Rescue Group is a charity dedicated to the restoration of the the former Fleetwood lifeboat R.N.L.B. Ann Letitia Russell, and finding her a home where she can be displayed in a safe and secure environment.
The Ann Letitia Russell Rescue Group was formed after local man Jeff Jackson was reading the local newspaper and noticed a story about the former Fleetwood Lifeboat being offered for restoration.
Jeff started a group page on Facebook and from there local interest was generated fast. Contact was made with Tolly Rodger the owner of the Ann Letitia Russell and within a few days her return to Fleetwood was secured.
On 13th May 2015 a public meeting was held at The Mount Hotel, a committee was formed and Jeff Jackson was voted in as Chairman of the group.
The Ann Letitia Russell arrived back in Fleetwood 16th August 2015, she was placed in the ABP compound at Fleetwood mariner where she is currently stored, work began to remove the modified cabin and any non-original parts. She is now waiting to be moved indoors to a more permanent home before her restoration can begin.
The current estimated restoration cost of the former Fleetwood Lifeboat is £175,000.
